On behalf of the fraternity of Govt. College of Teacher Education, Kokrajhar, I welcome all the viewers on the web. Your august presence in this college makes all of us proud and happy. It gives me immense pleasure to place the following afew lines about our college. Govt. College of Teacher Education, Kokrajhar holds a pride among B.Ed. institutions of the state. The college was established in the year 1971, it has grown from humble beginning to a place of strength. From its humble beginning as B.T. College presently known as Govt. College of Teacher Education, Kokrajhar established in 1971 affiliated to Gauhati University; the college completed the 44 glorious years of its academic life. Apart from B.Ed. training, college is also providing training to TET qualified elementary school teacher of D.El.Ed. Course under Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University since 2013. The vocational-centric idea of education has resulted in an extensive change in the very definition of good education. With this changing situation, it has become important to provide teachers with the necessary training to become more effective in imparting knowledge. With the growing importance of specialization across the world, the need for better-trained teacher is now being also felt beyond both national and cultural boundaries, making the well trained teacher an invaluable product in a highly competitive world. I am happy to announce that the college is going to start M.Ed. course which will fulfil the dreams not only students of the locality but of the entire North East State. We recalled the great contributions of a number of stalwarts, past and present, who made great sacrifices to make this institution what it is today. I specially want to thank my teaching and non-teaching staff and everyone who supported directly or indirectly.
